KLEINOOD WINE ESTATE | STELLENBOSCH

This project on Kleinood Wine Estate in Stellenbosch was a collaboration between the owners, land artist Strijdom van der Merwe and ourselves. The brief was to enhance the experience of visitors to the forest on the banks of the Blaauwklippen River.

The process began with alien plant clearing, to allow light wells into the forest, followed by the design and implementation of meandering pathways, the introduction of endemic bulbs and trees, and the creation of natural works of art to further engage the imagination. The concept was to tread lightly through the space, while opening an otherwise inaccessible part of the farm to the public.
